FESRD Board Charts Path for Academic and Research Growth

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Resources Development (FESRD) held its board meeting this week to review academic progress, enhance research productivity, and align faculty operations with the university’s strategic goals.

The meeting, chaired by the Dean, Dr. Jafford Rithaa, brought together department heads, senior faculty members, and administrative staff to evaluate key achievements and address emerging challenges within the faculty.

Top on the agenda were matters relating to curriculum development, student performance, staff workload, and the advancement of environmental research and innovation. Members also reviewed progress on community outreach programmes and collaborative projects with local and international partners.

The board also discussed strategies to improve graduate training, boost research funding, and enhance digital resource integration, particularly in field-based environmental studies.

The meeting concluded with actionable resolutions, including timelines for curriculum reviews, a proposed seminar series to promote research culture, and strengthened mentorship for postgraduate students.

The deliberations reflect FESR D’s continued commitment to academic excellence, environmental stewardship, and knowledge-driven development in line with Chuka University’s mission.
